Hi Blind,

I've received PM IC5 offers from FB and Google and a senior PM-T offer from Amazon (all in respective HQs). Thank you to blind for helping me with interview tips and negotiation.

If you were in my shoes, which offer would you pick? Please note that TC is not my main factor in selecting a job, as I'm independently wealthy.

TC: 140k, 6 YOE in PM (yes I know that my TC is low atm).

So why is anyone who’s independently wealthy working as a $140K PM? I sure wouldn’t be...

    • @New so according to you, people born with old money are not making it on their own even if their field of work is something like being in a stem field?

"you have less stress than other workers because failure for you doesn't mean homelessness like it does for immigrant tech workers from eastern Europe"
So now the fear of being homeless would be more stressful than, say, a relationship problem? Do you even understand how human emotions work? You think eating a chocolate cake would mean different kinds of happiness than eating a pizza? You're wrong. Emotional variations are same for everyone and the way one handles it is their own accomplishment. It has nothing to do with success. There are many more who commit suicide with money than with the fear of getting homeless and losing it.

Why should op be aware of their advantages? Who are you to tell them that? Op can live however they want and you have no right to tell them how they should live their life. You go live your life and let others live theirs. Don't justify your inability to be successful to other's luck.

Google first, fb second and Amazon 10th. Or see if you mesh more with certain products and teams and use that to pick.

@dealing: Ok here how it goes. Even if I the team misses deadline, our lead just emphasize take your time, don’t work over time. What I meant was that WLB is definitely more important. My org is GEO.

Not a bad thing to care about WLB, maybe not a good thing for developing product. I felt people would be more productive otherwise, but I may be wrong.

Overall, Google is a great place to work, but I am buying other companies stocks.

If u don’t care about tc then amazon. U will be challenged and learn a lot. They ship the most products under the most challenging constraints. Life will be harder but u will feel more accomplished and satisfied than google. Google doesn’t ship products. They ship half ass half baked beta test.

Amazon treats it employees like shit. I cleared final rounds with Facebook & Google, told Amazon goodbye in the middle because their recruiting was the worst I ever interacted with, times & times again.

I thought I might have been walking away from something when I told my Amazon recruiter thanks but no thanks, but serve Tal of my friends working at Amazon have been pulling 70 hours work weeks, and were not happy (some have left).

Take Google’s offer. Ex googler here - I was way happier at Google than I am here at Amazon.
