How important is the school zone? (especially elementary school)
Hey friends on blind, I would really appreciate your opinions here.
We are in our early thirties living in the bay area. We don’t have kids yet but plan to. We live in a 1600+ SFH right now but are considering switching to a larger one sometime this year. Plan to live in the next home for 10 years or so.
Everyone says a good public elementary school is important. However, I also kept hearing that private school works better in many perspectives.
Assume I have a strong preference for my future kids to go to private elementary school, how important is the school zone? Since I am only planning for the next 10 years, I assume I only need to focus on elementary school.
Sincerely appreciate any thoughts!
PS: I’m reading and liking all replies, thank you all for the input!

Many people use school scores as a filter as it’s usually a good proxy for the quality and safety of the neighborhood as a whole. If you’re not an 8+, then they don’t consider the home.
It’s sucks how bad schools generally are in the South Bay.
Edit: specifically meant for starter homes (3BR)
But public elementary and middle is a good choice, you will have a good neighbourhood with low crime rate in a good school district
