Maybe it's just me but no matter what company I try to get reviews for from on Blind I always end up seeing negative reviews. The negative part could be anything from PIP culture, no wlb, no refreshers, overhyped valuation, terrible company politics, toxic work culture etc. etc.

Maybe it's just me but looking at those reviews it feels like no company is worth joining. I searched for snowflake, amazon, Microsoft, doordash, fb, uber, google, coinbase, oracle, twilio, databricks etc.

The community probably spares only Google and Salesforce from the flogging.

Is it just me or does everyone get the same feeling?

What is it exactly?

Also what other websites would you recommend? Glassdoor maybe? (Sorry thjs question was an afterthought so couldn't add it to my poll)

Usually it's the people who are salty that leave reviews, most people enjoying their time don't write anything

Also to note, one team may be absolutely awful, and one could be amazing, you should speak with the manager prior to joining to address your concerns. They could potentially bend the truth though..

An example could be Amazon. People write reviews about pip and wlb, but there's also people who say they work 20 hours a week.. gotta take it with a grain of salt, or less salt depending how you're looking at it lol

An individual have their opinion based on their interaction with their project/ team which necessarily doesn't mean a company is bad. My leadership sucks but doesn't mean whole company is bad.

  • Do not look at the absolute negativity. The relative negativity accurately describes the tech space.
All the info here is anecdotal, so it's true in relative sense although absolutely data is over exaggerated.

I find blind company reviews in aggregate to generally be pretty accurate. At least more so than Glassdoor. My old company had tons of Glassdoor reviews taken down leading to an inflated rating. Whereas here on blind there hasn’t been any censorship and you can see what people actually think

There's a paid version of Glassdoor in which companies can subscribe to, allowing complete control of reviews. They can even prevent certain roles from being displayed to the public. Glassdoor is absolutely useless at this point. Such a shame because it used to be great
