Very poor experience with the HR. Was offered a job verbally and asked for reference. I told her that I needed sometime to get the reference and to have the conversation with my current manager. However, one day after I supplied the reference, she told me that they are going with another finalist and said that I should learn a lesson to never provide a reference with my current manager when there is no written offer. Thank so much for teaching me a life lesson. I had no idea about this other finalist the entire time we were talking. I can’t believe HR just f**k me over like this. Don’t bother with this company. Ridiculous and unprofessional recruiting process. What a waste of my time.

This may be petty but in this scenario I would think about 2 options to deal with this:
1) reach out directly to the hiring manager
2) social media call out on LinkedIn against Asana. Something to the tune of it's a candidates market bla bla bla, but you were extremely disappointed to see recruiters act a certain way.
Most likely Asana's LinkedIn team will notice and get back to you.
Only do the second if you're ok with announcing publicly you're applying for new roles.

You weren’t screwed, this is how it goes sometimes
