FOMOW

I recently went on a vacation and noticed something about myself. I was constantly thinking about work and after googling about this I realized people have an acronym for it. FOMOW - Fear of missing out on work. The problem has gotten so worse my manager is getting worked up that I don't enjoy my vacation and keep logging into work. So I was wondering if anyone had tips or suggestions that would help me reduce this irrational fear and actually have a decent WLB

Leave your work laptop at home, turn off notifications for work apps on your phone or delete them while on vacation if necessary.

Treat your vacation like ā€œworkā€ - as in, itā€™s your job to get some fun experiences seeing things and doing things, enforce relaxation, meditation, physical activity, catching up with friends and family. Whatever it is, plan it in advance and hold yourself to your vacation goals. Sounds like you need to train your brain to stop constantly checking for things, so give yourself set times you would check emails and have a cutoff for level of importance on what you would respond to while youā€™re out. If itā€™s not urgent it has to wait.

A very interesting way to look at vacation. If I trick my mind into thinking that I have a set of goals to accomplish it'll maybe help with the FOMOW .. Thank you :)

Take a vacation in a place without internet access. Enjoy the paradise.

Depends on how your remote access is set up. Change password to your work account on the first day of vacation and don't update your phone app with it until you return.
