What advise do you give a MBA student that's looking at a FP&A career?
Shave your head. That way you won’t stick out too much
Uhh... I hope you like excel, numbers, and fixing other peoples' messes? I personally enjoy the FP&A side of things. I'd take a more interesting company that I like the product of over a 15% pay raise, simply because I value what I work in and do and hope it affects the company in a way, instead of just being a cog in a wheel
I suggest you reframe your question. If you want to have an FPnA career, you are wasting money on an MBA. You go get those extra credentials to get your career beyond that level. While FPnA may be your first post MBA stop, think about the bigger picture such that will the FPnA role in front of you be a springboard towards leadership.
+1 to this
FP&A is a no-win, dead-end function ultimately. Tread carefully.
Are you in FP&A?
I’ve only heard bad takes about FP&A from people at Amazon. Must be company-specific.
