I’m currently a Contractor for Cisco through a third party with no end date to my contract. Aside from certain benefits, I am treated like a FTE. While I was on the job hunt, I mostly came across contract or temp jobs in the Bay Area. I’m still new to this but is this the norm?
It is for nonengineering jobs at lower levels (less than 5-7 yoe)
The key word here is nonengineering. Nontech at a tech company dilutes your yoe significantly. Most people only get hired fte mid career
No. It’s just that there are quite a few contract jobs and if you list your roles as contractor, you attract those middle companies. For direct employment LinkedIn connections should be the best way to forward. Don’t list on your resume contractor titles, list the equivalent Cisco titles and leave the clarification to recruiter call.
What position/title? TC?
