FTW!!! Colorado requires employers to disclose salary on job postings

Cheers to you Colorado for taking a great step. It’s an old news but I just found out when looking through Microsoft job posting where they mentioned “salary range for the role is xxxx in Colorado”. I wish more states follow footsteps of Colorado which will help in reducing wage gaps and increase decades of stagnant wages. What are your thoughts on this?

Yup, this is showcased under every job posting.

California and New York require prospective employers to disclose the salary range if asked

I live in Colorado and this is an awesome step forward. The huge bummer we’ve been experiencing however is some remote friendly companies are not accepting candidates from Colorado so they can avoid disclosing salary ranges.

LOL, who would have thought!

Some companies are being tricky like Oracle. They are asking people to email them for the salary info if they reside in Colorado, instead of advertising the salary range in the job posting

They’re required to disclose salary on job postings. Aren’t they breaking the law by not disclosing salary.

This isn’t good. The word about the high tech TC is about to get out…

Not much of a win here.. they purely state the full job band range (base only). .. last one I saw was "125-225k". Only good such that you don't waste your time.,. But if you consider companies uplevel if your skills fit, well this disclosure is worthless

This. I also heard that they don't even have to be accurate. We published ranges and my former boss told me they're basically arbitrary since there's outliers on each end of the spectrum.

Silly regulatory requirements. Salary is a fraction of TC. Negotiation > Regulation

L'Oréal ;-( OP Nov 15, 2021

Some non tech companies only offer base+benefits (medical, 401k & bonus). There is no such thing as TC there.

Databricks vjsmwx Nov 15, 2021

That's another thing. Benefits should be decoupled from employers, providing transparency (see cost reduction) and job portability to further increase wages/leverage.

I stop replying recruiters if they don’t tell me the expected TC range
