It is crazy that Facebook has such a hard time hiring Blacks and Hispanics. Why doesnt this super smart tech firm try to match thier hiring to the US Census? That would go a long way to solving the diversity problem. I’m not saying they should 100% match Census numbers, but damn—disrupt these piss poor numbers already. Ya’ll busy “disrupting” everything else—disrupt thyself.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but diversity is actually pretty useful when it comes to designing good products. Doesn't have to be racial or gender diversity necessarily, but if a new perspective can extend your reach even 0.1%, that is millions in the bank.

I was about to link this medium post too. Here we see much more than a hiring problem. Management culture at FB appears toxic, grotesque and unchanging.
Genuine question - I'm not discounting the experience of the person who wrote this article, I'm sure these things all happened and it sounds like she has an awful manager. From what I can read though, none of the experiences can be explicitly linked/blamed on her being black (except maybe the one where other employees told her to clean up their food) There are many people who complain about having awful and shifty managers and a lot of pressure at Facebook (i.e. see the guy who committed suicide). Is there anything to indicate/prove that this is because she's black and not just that she's unlucky and has a really shitty manager? Is the level of work satisfaction lower for black employees across the company? Again, not saying Facebook isn't racist, and of course it must be incredibly frustrating with such a shitty manager, but I feel like there's a mismatch between the conviction of the author that everyone around her at work empowers racism and the amount of evidence/clues that point specifically to that being the case
