Hello Everyone, Just gave my onsite interview today and was wondering if I can get any feedback from you guys! Interview1: - 6-7 SQL queries (used interviewer's help throughout the interview but nothing was left incomplete) - 1 python question, it was more like a medium LC but with only 6 minutes to go. I explained him the approach but couldn't really implement that, but in the end he asked me to shift the two loops and it worked. - Product Sense, I did give him couple of answers and he was satisfied but he needed another metric which was used then in the next SQL questions. Interview2: - Product Sense Questions (did well) - Data Model and Design (did well) - SQL Queries over the Data Model (did well, and also modified a bit the structure I created before) Interview3: - Product Sense Questions (He was looking for two main metrics, and I answered one and also second one but with a little direction) - SQL question (1 LC medium, completed it with very minimal help) - Python question (Streaming question, did complete it with a little help) What do you think of the chances of me getting into FB? Does it look satisfactory? #facebook #dataengineer #data #analytics #london #fb #onsite #poll
Hello Op, I have mine scheduled in a couple of weeks from now. I went through other Blind threads and got some idea now; was kind of struggling to find a proper structure of the interview. I sincerely appreciate any tips or the kind of questions that you were asked in your interview. Thanks,
Work on your SQL mainly thats the key!
Cool thanks a lot Op! hope you would get through; also I read in one of the threads that there was some Streaming related question. Is it so? And how detailed was your pipeline design? Was it only like listing out the blocks or were you asked to explain the inner-workings? Sorry for a long question; just that its my first time interviewing for FAANG! so I want to make sure that I give my best. TIA :)
OP for on-site on code pad we’re you able to run the code ?
I spoke to my recruiter; the coderpad will not be in execution mode so only writing the code and explain it verbose! no execution.
Can you please let me know if we have to come up with a data model in ETL rounds as well?
Nope
Hey Op, for data modelling questions, is star schema enough or were they looking for more normalization/design trade offs ?
Yes, but instead of limiting yourself to star schema make sure you go through as many case studies as possible
Hey! I completed mine earlier this week too and the experience was very similar to yours, except Data Modeling. The interviewer gave me a big hint to help move the code along. Not sure how much that plays into comparison with other interviews i gave. Anyways, all the best!! Any idea how soon can we expect to hear back generally?
Is there an active group for folks preparing for the virtual onsite interview? Can i be added to the group?
I had my interview too yesterday i had similar situations one of my python I didn’t get much time since he asked me 2 sql queries along with product sense
May I dm you? I've my interview coming up I'm somewhat struggling with the product sense!!
Still very confused about product sense. Can someone provide an example? Should I expect a question like: “How can we measure user engagement given this data model?” Would I answer that by explaining the relevant features and the queries needed to combine them for an engagement metric?
Use the materials from the recruiter, they were super comprehensive for me. It includes 2 videos on product sense which are great templates for how they will phrase the question, and how they are expecting the answer. Think of questions like a metric is acting weird, how do i find the reason for that behavior
Hi op did you hear back ?
