I have a facebook data science recruiter phone screen coming up and I’d like to get tips on interview prep and pointers on what i kind of quenstions I should expect. Thank you in advance.
I have seen Facebook recruiters have a short 15 mins quiz and if a candidate passes the quiz then he is considered to the next steps.
Is it for Data Science Analytics role? Then, be prepared to answer 5 SQL questions (basic stuffs), briefly explain how you can improve a fb product and tell me about your background.
The recruiter will not ask technical questions. They simply want to hear about your background and relevant experiences. It’s more of a formality. Then the recruiter will schedule you with an engineer for a 30-45min phone screen. Only then you’ll be asked to do some coding in either SQL or Python (likely SQL). You may also then be asked some simple probability and stats questions.
Recruiter did ask me technical questions and I was rejected by the recruiter as I couldn't answer 2 of the 5 SQL questions.
I’ve seen this a few times and I keep wondering what kind of a bananas question is that you could solve it in Python *or* SQL! I know it’s not actually that weird in terms of day to day stuff, but it seems so divergent from every interview Q I’ve ever had that I can’t imagine what it is.
I was just given an example of a product question that I could get in the next step (tech screen) and briefly had to give my opinion on it

I do not know about Facebook per se but most phone screens are essentially the same: Tell me about yourself / your current role, what are your technical skills, why do you want to leave the company, what are your salary expectations, why are you interested in this position.
