Hey everyone, what is the expected base salary and TC for DS,A role at FB? I’m confused because the description looks more like a data analyst role so I’m not sure if me looking at data scientist salaries on Glassdoor is accurate.
Data scientist title in Facebook is equivalent to data analyst title in other companies I’ve heard. Their real data scientists are called ML engineer or Research engineer or something or rather.
Actual data science at large corps are usually called Applied Scientist / Applied Research Scientist. It is known that FB, Amzn, Msft often call their data analysts data scientists. @op I think it's fine if you prefer the A/B testing, reporting, and the BI stuff to modeling.
Can confirm. Pay is solid though
I’m not quite sure if you read the post. I know FB pays well but would they really pay a “data analyst” the same base salary as an SWE?
Yes.
No it’s not 130 unless you’re a new grad
What would you say the base pay and TC for someone with ~2 years of experience is?
Base ~135 Tc ~ 175 for 2 years of experience out of UG
When everyone says it is more analyst that data science, do you mean from the model production standpoint? Do these analysts still use R or python to build one off predictive models to solve problems?
Salary ranges on LEVELS.FYI are pretty accurate and they are listed by level
Standard IC5 offer is 160k base, 15% bonus, $200k RSUs vested over 4 years. You can negotiate for more
That's IC4 offer
Does these require python, or interviews can be cleared on sql, BI expertise basis?
If data science, analytics is closer to a data analyst role, then what does the data analyst role at FB entail?
