Hi, I had my Facebook phone interview for London two days ago, I had one LC Easy and LC Medium question. After the initial 5 mins, we proceeded to the coding questions. The first question was quite easy but I made couple of mistakes and rectified it when the recruiter asked me to test the code.He asked me to improve the complexity. After fumbling for 5 mins, he said it's okay, was testing to see if I could improve it or not (I still don't think it can be improved). Had 15 min left, I arrived at the solution before 6-7 mins were left, he approved it and I proceeded to code. It was a sub-optimal sol. By the time I finished it the 45 mins was up. We discussed the complexity. I was already sweating and in the end he stayed extra 5 mins to answer my questions. I could have improved it by taking extra memory but I just didn't follow up to say it. I haven't got any feedback and it has been two days. What do you think ? Will I pass ? Or is it a Rejection? #software #swe #facebooke5 #facebookphoneinterview
Hard to say without more details. 50/50
I’d say no based on what you described.
They ask relatively simple commonly asked questions so they expect you to be near perfect and fast. I know some people who solved 1 medium and passed phone screen and some failed after solving 2, 1 optimal and 1 sub optimal. Based on your interview I will say it's 50/50
You will hear from them soon, let us know.
It has been two days, is there a fixed time before solid rejection email comes? Or is it just that the interviewer didn't provide a feedback yet?
The SLA is two days, but I have personally seen it getting overdue if the interviewer is busy, because they have to write a detailed feedback. It takes a while. Sometimes they take off etc. So sit tight, drop a followup email or if someone referred you, talk to them. All the best!
just do this, go to leetcode and search the two questions and have a feel how others feel about the questions, if lots of people solved it and feel it is very easy, then you have no chance, you are competing with these people
Guys, what does it mean when the recruiter emails if I am free to discuss the feedback?
Did you get such email? I got an email congratulating on passing tech screen and asking for time to discuss feedback and next steps. If nothing has been mentioned then it could go either way.
yes, basically they want to book me in for another phone interview. Wanted to give me another chance
I feel like space complexity restrictions (or allowances) should be the first thing we all need to remember with these questions. If, for example, there's no requirement for in-place sorting and traversal, then it frees one up to do a lot more interesting stuff and showcase other areas of knowledge.
Which question ? I think pass
I cannot say, had an NDA. First was related to dictionary words, second related to array
