I have M1 offer from Facebook London and need some advice from those who have moved to London with young kids.
YOE 20+
TC : ~2CR
FB : M1
First Year TC : ~400K GBP, 140K Base, 20% bonus, RSU, Sign-on Bonus
Additional : Relocation for family + ~20K GBP for plus services if un-utilized can be taken as cash in payroll
A Unicorn Startup : Sr Director
TC : ~2CR Cash + RSU
Why Facebook London - Its Facebook. Experience in FAANG company. Life back to normal, kids going to school. I like the team, leaders and org, it's in facebook commerce area which is priority & growing so high chances are that i can grow to M2 in 3 years. If i decide to change company after 2-3 years facebook will add higher value on my resume compared to startup. Easy to travel and see Europe (once corona is settled), will be a great exp.
Why Stay in India - Doing pretty well in India, life is settled. Startup seems to be very promising so chances of success are very high. Wife is working, have full time maid to help. Wife have to find job in London and start again, not sure how easy it will be to manage kids with both of us working. London is expensive so our affordability will be less compared to India. Shifting is going to be a pain.
Was looking for M2 role so little disappointed, have been managing managers & large teams for very long time and in facebook have to start again from small team, it will take minimum 3 years to grow to M2, can take forever. I may not like managing ICs for long period (saw someone's post on facebook who have been in similar situation)

You are already earning 2Cr in India... I belive you and your kids can have a luxury life here itself. Don't you think reasons you have listed for moving to FB is just your state of mind? My thoughts are: there is no end to amenities its all about self satisfaction. Moving out of India definitely your kids gonna have less inclination towards other family members which i see is major cons of this move. It's not always about money and career, we always oversee other things like this while keeping an eye on career.
Again these may be noobish thoughts π
There are all kinds of people in world and i have seen both side (those who stop bothering once you leave and those who still value you) but mostly i have had good experience with people in my career.
In case it's not clear, I don't have nearly the amount of experience you do and if someone like me says "learnings", I'll still roll my eyes but at least it makes sense but someone with 20+ YOE saying "learnings" just doesn't make sense to me. You're not making yourself a drastically more appealing employee to anyone.
Of course, there's tons to learn -- you're not Sundar Pichai or Mark Zuckerberg, for example; they know tons you don't but that doesn't mean you should chase hypothetical learnings at 20+ YOE (of course, all of this is coming from someone with almost no experience compared to you and I'm "arguing" because it's an easy way for me to hear your counter arguments (if you don't mind) and I'm also someone who's considering FIRE, so there might be that bias).
I had M1 offer a year back which i declined for same reason. Have seen on blind in last one year hardly any M2 offer in FB london. Multiple guys from Amazon/Spotify with 20+ Years exp getting M1.
The M2's in the FB org i am joining are much more experienced and held larger title/scope than mine before joining facebook so if i compare myself with the leaders in the FB org i will be joining , it doesn't looks down-leveled.
But yes managing ICs for few years can be frustrating since i get involved a lot on strategy level in current job and would be doing so in startup
