Just finished an enjoyable interview loop at FB with the only definition of roll as tech “leadership” after being contacted by recruiter. Standard interview of SD, code, and 3 behavioral with director levels. Prep package was helpful and adds confidence to knowing domain in play.

Question is: is it already determined what level M1 or M2 or does interview process inform that for them? I have in the past managed team of teams of 35 but not at a top tier tech company. I felt the interviews went quite well especially behavioral and tech project and sysdesign. Should I wait to see if I actually get an offer and then ask about level? I’m ICT4 now but possible ICT5 promo in sept.

TC: 357 (500 inc appreciation)

  • Almost certainly M1, but M1 offer should beat your current appreciated TC by 15-20% (550-600 tc possible, with signing bonus) before the very nice refreshers

I’m up for ICT5 promo in fall which will mean it could be a lateral transition. I’ve got 15 years experience total experience but mostly in non-fang level. But cliff is next year after 4 years at aapl so gotta do something :)

Ah, the loop is M1 then. I think M2 might not have a coding round at all but I could be wrong. Where else are you interviewing?

  • I was hired via generic 'leadership' opportunity. The level depends on your past experience, if you haven't managed 50+ org you will be offered M1 even if nailed interviews.

If you are already making 500, what would be your salary after ICT5 promo? 600K? Keep that in mind and negotiate with FB recruiter.

You should feel free to ask these questions at the interview.
