Facebook SWE M2 offer, how does it compare to D1 TC?

Even though I manage a team of over 120 engineers at Google, FB would only let me interview for M2 instead of D1. That said the offer I received seems pretty decent, but curious how it would compare to compensation at D1. Salary - 275k Sign on bonus - 100k RSU grant - 1.8M TC for first year would be about 900k assuming about 25% bonus.

Not sure if it is worth the move at this level tbh...you’ll go into a new place with no rep, etc and 100k after taxes at your rate is prob 50k and i dont think that is much change. Id only go for 1.1-1.2M+. Also long term G is better than fb imo.

It’s hard to come by hard data at these levels, but I’ve heard that TC for D1 would be in the 1M-1.5M range.

OP what’s your level at Google? I thought L8 / Director would be more than 800k (that sounds more like Amazon director TC)

I work on a consumer product team. Best advice I can give is that you are responsible for your own career. No one is going to hold your hand to success. Also don't waste time being outraged by the latest outrage of the month. Focus on why you go to work ... It's to do work.

Anyway I agree that the change isn’t worth it solely for the 100k bump in the first year, but it seems that FB has very generous refreshers so the steady state could be much better than at Google. And if you’re ambitious, there’s almost certainly more headroom to advance even without making VP.

I think FB tends to be conservative with external sr. Management hires. Your offer from FB is strong for IC7 but if you’re really convinced you’re about to get promoted at G, I would wait for that and re-interview later. I’d expect the comp to be 25-40% more at a D1 offer, with the annual refresher bring up 100% to $800k/yr That said, depending on what the team you land at looks like at FB, you might be fast tracked to promo there as well but the bar will be high
