Does Facebook show level of employee to everyone in the company? I mean in the contacts/phone tool which is accessible to everyone in the company.
They don't show it like in phone tool.
Why?
Levels are not published. Although team members tend to all roughly know (or strongly suspect) each othersā levels.
No, levels are not visible except for director and vp (although there is no senior director or SVP either). It is an attempt to take out unnecessary hierarchy and avoiding arguments from authority especially in cross team IC collaboration.
There are no levels at Facebook. Everyone is a software engineer.
There are levels, they are just not public
Leads/managers know the levels within the team, and there is often implicit context to know somebody's level. But it seems to be considered rude/self-promoting to talk much about your level without a reason. It's definitely different than, say, Google's culture in this regard.
Seems not
