I might be looking to get an opportunity to work as senior system engineer at Facebook. Which office location would you recommend for future career growth? Menlo Park or Seattle? How’s the TC range? Thanks in advance. Current L5 SDE Amazonian, have a family and established real estate in Seattle already so a bit hard to decide.
If you get the same total comp offered in Seattle as in Menlo Park, why would you not pick Seattle. I’m surprised Facebook does this. Usually a move to a cheaper state comes with a pay cut. Or am I mistaken? More affordable, no state tax, enough opportunities so you’ll save more $. Just need to make peace with the worse weather.
As far as I know only fb do in this way, not sure about Google
Weather doesn’t bother me. I’ve been through even worse ones. Resistance +9
Menlo Park. More opportunities.
Menlo Park for career opportunities and Seattle for saving. Pick your poison
Care to explain the first part? More teams/visibility or easier promotion ?
Seattle. Huge expansion plans.
Explain!
I would recommend Seattle, compensation is the same. But Seattle only hires e5+ now
How is that determined? What’s the bar for that?
I think roughly based on your previous work and years of experience. My friend has worked in Amazon for about 4 years and recruitor told him only MPK has hc now
