Facebook or Lyft internship
Should I take a Facebook or Lyft internship? I'm currently a junior and I could take both, but it will make my last year pretty tight and I won't be able to do my school's 5 year master's program. Facebook in Menlo Park, 8k/month Lyft in SF, 9.6k/month
Just pick one, Facebook or Lyft similar on your resume. One thing that you need to consider is which one you want a full time return offer. Lyft is already IPO’ed, incentive not great there.
To be fair, the Lyft full-time offer is ~better than Facebook and Lyft has similar if not better growth prospects IMO.
Highly depends on interview performance. I got a much higher fb offer for senior position (~80k diff first year)
Do you see what has happened to your stock since IPO?
M.S. people are much more likely to progress further (T5, T6) in their technical careers, but only if it's a top 30 school I wouldn't bother at a lesser school because most faculty would not be that bright ...
Suggestion... Don’t bother with a Master’s. You don’t need it for software jobs. At FANG companies there’s little difference between comp for MS vs BS. You’re more desirable with a BS and Facebook internship than you are with an MS and no internship.
