Facebook or Series G company?

Hi Blinders, I have two competing offers that I need your help choosing:

1. Facebook
Position: IC3, specialist role
TC: 118K (but easily able to match competing offers)
Pros: FAANG company, good branding, pride; able to move roles internally
Cons: specialist role, not as interesting

2. Series G company
Position: L3, account manager
TC: 130K , uncapped commission
Pros: not public yet but have great potential, believe in the company, and job is more interesting
Cons: not FAANG

YOE: 4 years
Which position should I choose? Would love to hear your comments below! #tech

Thank you!

In your role (assuming non-tech) does FAANG reputation matter?

It’s a sales / customer success role so I’m guessing not as much as it would for technical roles - lmk if you disagree/have other thoughts

Forgive me if this seems ignorant but isn’t a startup that needs series G/7 rounds of funding a negative sign? I obviously don’t know much about startups but if the goal of these funding rounds is to reach financial sustainability but haven’t yet after these rounds, will they ever reach their goal?

That could be true and I’m also not an expert in this topic. I do know that Robinhood & Uber had Series G rounds and subsequently IPOed, and there are also massive companies like Databricks that had Series G but still hasn’t IPOed. I guess it depends on a per case basis whether they will reach their goals

Not necessarily, startups aren’t feeling the need to IPO as early as they did so staying private can be a way of retaining control. It does depend though, a startup that has found product-market fit in one or more segments is very different than another that’s still floundering even if both are raising funds at equivalent series.
