Both offers at Facebook and AKQA. Product Design (IC4) for Facebook and Senior UX Design at AKQA. Facebook is offering more money, obviously, but curious what the design community thinks of both. I have corporate experience at Amazon, should I go try out agency life? Will AKQA be more fulfilling with projects and happier environment? (AKA is it worth turning down Facebook for?)
Agency life is terrible, don’t bother. I worked at a top agency and knew many others from other top agencies. They’re all the same. They overwork and underpay their employees. Even though FB is known for bad WLB, agency WLB is worse than FB, with worse pay and perks. On top of all that, agency projects are actually less interesting since you can only go very shallow due to the limited amount of time spent per project.
I’d never go back to an agency. You have very little agency at an agency
Facebook 100% I used to work at akqa, a bunch of of at FB used to work there. Don’t go agency.
FB easy
Agency blows. I would never go back to that.
Agencies pay less, have worse benefits, worse WLB, and less time to work on projects. Over a year you'll work on more projects and it will be a more dynamic portfolio, and you'll have more connections, but everything about it sucks.
Facebook for career development for sure.

Stay away from agency in general if you want product design, also AKQA has a bad rep from culture perspective. I spent one year at an agency equal in caliber as AKQA and that was a complete waste of my life for a whole year
