Hi guys, Got a recruiter ping today for a product leadership role at FB in a new/evolving area, for business applications involving both hardware and software. Anybody know what level product leadership means? I'm guessing director. And what kind of comp I should be expecting? I'm at AWS at the moment. Was at Google before. Maybe I'll shoot for 3/5 of the FAANGs 😇🤣 Also how is the culture over there these days? I'm sure it depends. I really like AWS but never hurts to answer a recruiter call. Thanks.
You can directly check with Recruiter. It makes sense to atleast give Facebook interview. Why did you join Amazon after Google?
Thanks - believe it or not, I like the culture at AWS a lot more than at Google. Also was there quite a while, big reorg in cloud. Being a diiiiiistant 3rd in cloud also completely sucks and you run yourself ragged trying to keep up. At AWS there is a lot of work, but it's more customer focused, more iterative, and decisionmaking is much much faster and pushed lower. I'm pretty senior with a pretty large book of business to PM but it's still a mix of trying to help build new things and acquire customers while simultaneously trying to help them to modernize into the future of cloud so they get max value. It's just a really interesting time. Also I get paid a lot more, work a lot less. The average person at Google is more talented than the average person at Amazon, but, Amazon has such better structures and mechanisms in place, it actually runs itself a lot better. I'm not selling my google stock by any means, but am really happy at AWS. I also travel way less. I was on the road all the time at Google. I miss the free food and stuff and the internal tools, that's about it.
Anybody know what level and comp this could be?
Product leadership sounds like they’re selling you on the level below director (L7). You can probably ask recruiter for fb level. If it’s L7, comp band there is super wide ranging—likely 600 to just under a mill.
Thank you. I'm in a director level role now at AWS.
@OP How did the interviews go? Got mine coming up, so I’d love to hear your experiences!
Let me know if you need hardware ideas lol
Lollllllllllll sure thing 🤣
