I received a call from Facebook recruiter to schedule an interview after applying online. After asking about my Visa status,(which is F1-Stem opt) they decided not to move forward with my application, just because "I have only 22 months left on my OPT". She said that the business needs of Facebook requires that I should have at least 24 months left on my OPT so that they can make at least two attempts for my H1 application. I explained to her that even now they can apply at least twice, given the fact that they can make the H1 application only in April 2019 and April 2020. I explained to her that, but the HR did not respond back. This is the weirdest reason for not proceeding with the hiring/ interview process. Moreover, she was asking me to send copies of my documents via email, even before beginning the interviews. In my recent interviewing experience with many companies -big or small, no company has ever denied interviews or offers on the fact that I have less months on OPT etc. Nor have I ever been asked to present my documents even before interview. This is really absurd behaviour from Facebook.
Has anyone gone through this?
They aren't hiring for E3/E4 on H1B either.
