Facebook rejection for New Grad role after referral - WHY ?
I was able to get referral for New Grad - SWE position at Facebook. However, the resume was rejected without even an initial phone call or an online coding challenge. I believe my resume is decent enough since I have gotten interviews coming up at Amazon and MS. ( with online application and without any referrals ) and about to graduate from top 10 CS university and 2 SWE internships. Any insights on why this happened ? I suspect that it's because all of my internship experience is in backend development with Java. Very little to No experience with frontend and Php. Also, what's the process of providing referral like ? Do the person referring can do anything extra ( like write impressive stuff about my skills ) to be atleast considered for the introductory phone call.
It's unlikely they tossed you for not knowing front end.
Facebook doesn't really hire non intern new grads anymore.

Put all buzz words on white font strategically throughout your resume It was the machines that rejected you not the recruiters themselves
I've heard mixed reviews about this. I've never tried it hence. Just out of curiosity how safe is this? I'm getting sick and tired of my resume getting rejected by ATS :(
Just try it The cool off period is only valid if you get an interview and get rejected

Hmm, I’m not sure then. I was referred once a few months ago and got insta-rejected and then recently got another referral that went through. I thought maybe it had to do with timing.

My friend got referred, got rejected on that referral. The very next day, applied online with a different account without referral and got a call. Recruiting is such bullshit. 🙁
It wasn’t your lack of front-end and PHP experience. Most big companies don’t care about that for generalist SWE positions.
