I was reached out by Facebook recruiter for a production engineer role. I passed the prescreening test but when I discussed salary expectation with her... she was "shocked" like I said something out of the world Current TC - 210K FACEBOOK Ask min was 250k TC with 175k base YOE 9 yrs
E5 base is also more than that. What level were you interviewing for?
Since it was Linked In connect from a recruiter directly and not a position I applied...I am not sure. She just made initial chit chat call and then 20-25 pre screening questions and said there are many roles where I could be a good fit and she will present it to all teams she handlss
They don't put levels in job description even if you Apply online, you wouldn't know.
Production engineering is paid less than SWE..why not interview for a SW role?
Which location? She is probably just doing this as a negotiation tactic early in the process
Did she ask about your expectation?
Why talk about compensation at this stage?
So it's appropriate to use a "shock and awe" attack on a recruiter then?
I would rather suggest you to ask for E5. Which automatically means $175k+ base + 15% bonus + $400-800k equity + joining bonus. They canât low ball you too much if E5. Your current ask of total $250k can be easily fulfilled by an E4 offer of $150k base + $300k rsu + 10% bonus + some joining bonus.
Recruiters donât act shocked if you are talented, they donât want to risk losing you.
I think she was shocked because you asked for too little pay lol.
Thatâs pretty doable.. E6 base is about 210k
That's low. E6 get 230 base at FB
Itâs went up since I was an E6 then :)
