Im lucky enough to have offers for a SWE internship at both. I want to work distributed systems in the future. Pay is not a priority but HRT is offering much higher. Which do you think would be a better learning experience/ would look better on a resume?
HRT! It's much more selective than FB and talent level is much higher.
What? This is not true for one.. yes HRT is extremely selective but Facebook is selective in a completely different way. Besides this.. for internship especially you should choose a big name company IMO as it will help you land interviews easier in the first few years. Plus at FB you'll be more applicable to many industries.. HRT is known in finance and among devs somewhat .. anyway just my two cents.. take FB 100%
A place where you can just leet your way in isn't at all selective.
Curious what HRT pay is for interns
Check what I posted above :)
Tech recruiters will know HRT. It’s a lot more prestigious and rare
HRT summer internship was just started last year and was tremendously successful. Amazing projects in prod with great learning experiences. Highly recommend it over fb, which is a very variable experience. You will certainly learn distributed systems at hrt and systems development far greater in depth.
HRT on your resume really shines. There are thousands of new grads with fb on their resume
HRT obviously- I know a few great engineers who didn’t get in there - don’t know about culture though
HRT would be nice, plus 13k is legit for an intern
I think FB's main strength here is its brand name, and the fact that it will be recognised wider than HRT (and they'd probably still get interviews wherever they want) However, any company that doesn't recognise HRT is probably not a company you want to work for anyways. Like other have said, HRT is more selective and prestigious to those who know of both companies, so this seems like a no-brainer
But recruiters can't right..
HRT, pay progression (assuming you care to come back for full-time) at FB is garbage unless you get lucky

HRT is 13k/mo this summer :P
Go to HRT. Good luck.
