I see on here FB new hires getting 100k just for signing. Is there a catch? Why does FB give new hires (especially new grads and early careers) such a yuge bonus? I do not see other FAANGs doing this. Is there a catch here or is FB just awesome that way?
FB is not the only one able to a phat sign on.
I know Apple does not, Google too does not for new hires. Idk if Amazon does but personally do not know anyone who got that big of a sign-on. Uber does maybe?
Uber is cheap. But I know people have gotten at very senior levels that sign on for Uber. Amazon does high sign ons for the right people and VC approval
Honestly nobody wants to work for FB, they have to pay good money to make it attractive
Price to buy your soul.
Also, the interviews at FB can be much tougher than other FAANGs (Amazon is tough due to their recruiters being shitty and bar raisers being an ass most of the time, not objectively tough)
I've also found a lot of my Amazon interviewers to be very cold and rude. They only take notes rather than try to guide the interviewee along if the missed something. Interesting to hear this from someone else
It’s equally tough to crack. I’d say the sign-on is justified. As much as people hate on the company, it’s still one of the best places to work at, with the best talent. Of course, like others stated, with the turbulent time the company is going through in terms of screw ups and bad press, they have to pay more to get the best engineers. PS - Not a SWE.

How does fb product pay compare with engineering pay?
Facebook $100k signon is mainly for return full time offer. Google does have similar incentive but you have to be super good, or have competing offers.
See, how does a candidate with competing offers make them more valuable than they inherently are? Aren't FAANG interview processes flawless?
Not true. Plenty of new hires get 100k signing bonus.
I thought they stopped giving out the huge signing bonuses a year ago?
Nope. Friend of mine got one in NYC just a few weeks ago.
Do they give these for product or just eng ?
Because no one wants to join fb
Thats the whole point of compensation, to make people join. I would not join anywhere with no comp lol
To OP: only a select few get it - for returning interns that have proven themselves.
