Failed Facebook, G and Apple interviews, how do I further improve ?

Jun 1, 2021 8 Comments

Recently interviewed with FAAG.

Facebook - Rejected after virtual onsite, in one of the coding rounds could not finish coding (was interrupted constantly) but had figured the correct solution. Probably did not do well in the system design round too. The recruiter offered the feedback that after the holistic review of the feedbacks the interviewers felt I am “technically weak”.

Apple - Rejected after two phone interviews, feedback was - “not a right fit for the team.”

Google - Could not finish coding in one round and was asked if I can spot bugs in the code in at least two rounds. Moved to HC but was rejected. Got the following feedback - “Need more practice with translating the idea into code”.

Amazon - Offered

My question is what should be my strategy next ? I will be joining Amazon soon but have some time before that. I want to strategize and be better prepared for the next time when I interview again. ( Probably soonish if I get PIPed.)

    • I did about 250. I think I was able to come up with the solutions for all questions which were asked to me, probably was lacking on implementation and hence the feedback from G.

Yup, implementation is also expected. Nevertheless, don't be disappointed, you know where you lag better than anyone else.. work on it, apply again . All the best.

I joined Apple and found Amazon interviews way harder. You got unlucky, but keep practicing and try again.

    • I think the team was looking for someone with experience with ML pipelines which I had none. The interview problems were also unique in the sense it was testing your knowledge on such topics. I only got a call because I reached out to the HM on his hackernews post. Targeting the right team might help next time I think.
