I’m interviewing at MetLife for a Senior Tech Lead role in application software development soon. I’m excited about the job description and I think I could learn a lot since my focus so far has been more on low level embedded software. Does anyone have experience working at MetLife? I do have 3 little kids so I’m especially curious about WLB. TC: $145k YOE: 10 Location: NC #tech #software
With that Yoe you could still get more, keep trying for more offers.
Thank you for the feedback. Any specific companies you recommend (don’t want to move away from the research triangle in NC)? I’m also applying to NVIDIA (fully remote) and Google (Durham location).
I would look for a remote role. You can do at least 200k
Do you have any specific companies in mind? Looks like NVIDIA has a bunch of good roles available for remote.
Look at job boards, linked jobs with remote, yc jobs, angellist, builtinnyc so many
Did you join ? How’s WLB ?
I didn’t make it past the first round. They were looking for someone with domain knowledge/experience which I didn’t have.
Does MetLife pay well? Your TC looks good for NC.
I told the recruiter that I need at least $145k base for the move to make sense financially. They said that’s high but possible. Starting the second year I would get 15% bonus on top of those $145k. But no RSUs or anything like that.
Makes sense. I feel Blind skews the pay ranges as $200k is considered 🥜. Is the bonus based solely on your performance and/or company performance? I have been promised 20% before and did well but received $2k due to company not meeting goals. It puts a damper on effort when you aren’t rewarded.
