Hey folks,
I consider myself as a workaholic, means that if I don’t have any work to do for a day, I would feel empty and guilty.
Here is the situation: In the past week, I had basically 1-2 hours work per day or even no work at all to do. This situation really bothers me because I feel I did nothing/learned nothing. Usually when this situation happens, I would ask my manager for more work. However, he then just gave me a small work to do (feels like that is all he had), I usually get it done in a day or two. Then I fall into the situation of no work to do again. I really don’t wanna keep bother managers for more work.
I believe I am a top performer in my level, I got 4 out of 5 for two reviews after I join the company. Therefore performance is not the issue that I can’t get any work to do. I feel my manager is another issue, seems that he is under level compare to other managers. When I tried ask more work from him, he would just ask other managers to give me work since he didn’t have any work for me.
I would like to ask you guys, what would you do if you were in my situation (10 hours of work in the past two weeks). Would you keep asking for more work or would you just sit back and do nothing? What would be the best approach to a manager if you need more work from him/her?
Any suggestions are much appreciated!
