I moved to Bay Area early last year to join a new job for better knowledge gain, experience in Silicon Valley and better pay. I was happily working at Intel and outperforming every year and was even offered promotion before leaving. Due to recent re-org at new company I have been placed in a role which is irrelevant to my past experience and not of my interest. The team and manager here is just a waste and nobody is helping rampup as they don't realize I am new to the field. People are just feetlicking manager to get promotions. I would like to go back to the same team at Intel but I am in a situation where I am stuck in a year long apartment lease, moving again will be costly and hectic with family. I feel stupid and depressed now that performing at new company is looking so hard due to super high expectations. Please help with suggestions/referral. #intel #apple #nvidia #qualcomm #samsung #cadence #synopsys #microsoft #google #micron
Jump ship - Bay area has plenty to keep everyone happy as long as you are ready for some hardwork with job hunting. Atleast till your apt lease ends and you can always go back if it doesnt work out; but give it a fair and thorough chance now that you are here
Don't let the lease hold you back. You can work w the landlord if there is nothing in the contract about lease term fees. Sorry for your misstep. It happens to all of us notwithstanding good intentions. No need to cry over spilt milk at this point. What's important now is your next steps to get out of this predicament. Can you boomerang back to Intel?
The team is happy to take me back but I haven’t directly talked to my previous manager. That’s where I’m really confused that should I try to go back or find something else. I don’t know how they would treat me since I moved out for better money part.
Relocation will help cover lease break n all that stuff. Go back
Stuff happens. Nothing to get depressed about. Play the long game and think long term. I would ask the previous manager...why wait? I can also refer to Qualcomm if interested.
Breaking a lease is probably two months of rent. Add another 5K for moving expenses. Let’s assume you need to shell out 15K. Probably 10% of your TC or even lesser.Probably 0.03% of your lifelong earnings. Is it not worth the mental peace? You know it’s true love if you set it free and it comes back to you :D
Intel has offices here in Santa Clara. If you’re really keen on going back to intel, consider working from Bay Area office until your lease ends. Just a friendly suggestion! Best of luck
Stop worrying about your 1 year tenure. It doesn’t matter as long as you have a good story to explain it. Get interviewing and back to being happy with what you do.
Lease is the last thing to worry about. Happy u didn’t buy a house lol. U would have lost 20% of equity if u sell now.
TC?
Sh*t happens sometimes when you take risks. That’s fine. This can be fixed. In long term it will not matter. Polish up that resume and start the hunt.
What is this new company?
it is not a big company but would like to keep it confidetial for now.
