4.5YOE as a FEE, I was considered a strong intermediate at my previous company and had been seen as a high performer at the last 2 places I worked. Then today I got an offer from Amazon as a Front End Engineer I, they told me FEE I at Amazon is not considered junior junior, and the YOE of FEE I range from 1-5 years. First-year TC they offered will be almost 40K higher than what I made before, but the base salary was only 10k more (my previous job was a start-up without a ton of funding.. Amazon is supposed to one of the highest paying companies in my city), but the level they're offering is what bothers me the most. I know with the coronavirus and all everyone is saying you should consider yourself lucky to even have a job, but I feel if I took this offer then yes I'd make more money and finally have a big name on my resume, but I'd be taking a step backward in my career progression. Note I'm also expecting an offer from a startup who probably can't pay as much but will be hiring me as an intermediate with a career plan to grow me into senior in 12-18 months. Thoughts? Does anyone have a similar experience? Is it a good idea to negotiate with the manager and recruiter about the level of the position? #amazon #salaries #negotiate
Why are you stuck on the title? Career progression isnt based on titles. Amazon evaluates candidates highly based on the interview loop performance, not necessarily YOE (hence the 4y range that they told you). They evaluated you at FEE1. If you truly believe you are FEE2 level then bust ass for 6mo-1y or so then get a promo to FEE2. Its 40k more TC than you make now, whats the problem?
I can't see ur current tc and offer tc. Why u ranting?
U moron mention ur TC it GTFO
Looks like you’re the one who wants to make things more complicated than it sounds. Just post current and offered TC.
TC or GTFO
