I’m a software developer at JPMC and honestly, I feel like I’m missing something. My manager doesnt like me even though I’m a “top contributor” and have gotten numerous awards at the firm. I’ve never had a manager where I feel like they’re out to get me fired. I’m a question person so I think he mistakes my curiosity for questioning his authority directly. Anyways, I pretty much have gotten to the point where I dread waking up and going to the office. I feel like I’m missing out on some team camaraderie because no one on my team interacts unless its a production issue. For people at smaller firms / startups, how is the culture aspect of things? TC: 130k
I'm afraid leetcode is the solution
Sit down with him ask if you started on the wrong foot or if there’s a problem. Confront the issue in a positive way and if it doesn’t improve immediately get a new manager.
This is mostly your manager/teams fault. Culture varies from team to team and is not just a company thing. My boss at JPMC was hands down the best manager I have ever had. However I got a better offer elsewhere and JPMC HR wouldnt match me and told me to go fuck myself. If you feel like things arent working out then go find another job. I assume with your TC you are an associate or VP. You should be able to transition to another bank.
With your tc you better shut up and listen to your boss.
Why?
No specific TC is worth taking abuse. Very juvenile to think otherwise.
Sorry about your situation. Your manager seems to be an egotistical jerk. I would recommend you move teams if possible or look for another job.
Thanks. I have interviews with Amazon and Microsoft, so fingers crossed!
How Many YOE? Chase is a terrible place for your future career
I’m at about 4 YOE
Move on as soon as possible. To the startup with bigger growth or to faang with MUCH higher compensation and brand value. You can do much much better. I have friends working at Chase, it’s a terrible place. Same holds true for Accenture
Having that feeling while at JPMC means = Leetcode and find a job! JPMC is not one of the places where you could innocently go to your boss over coffee and be open about your issues.... I've been there. Here's how it goes: 1- My boss doesn't like me. I'm gonna arrange a meeting with him 2- (In the meeting): Me: Manager I have these issues Manager: Oh, why didn't you tell me earlier. I'll sort them out right away (with a big smile) 3- Your manager hates you even more 4- Talk about it again 5- You're on a list of people that the managers don't like and will probably wanna fire Get out of there!
Yeah that is exactly what happened last time I tried to bring it up! I’m definitely getting out. Have a few interviews lined up... hoping for the best!
Ugg that is the worst. I’m so sorry 😐
