I have been working day and night for the last year now. I have reached a point where I am unable to finish simple tasks because I keep procrastinating. I did this hard work for a promotion and just got one. To my surprise, the extra money is no longer making me happy. I cannot take OOFs because the product I’m working on right now is at its crucial stages. I have no time and energy to spend with my spouse. This is the first time I am experiencing something like this. What should I do? Level: 62 TC: 190K #depression #burnout

What’s the point of all this tc if you can’t spend time with your spouse.
Msft has better WLB right ? I thought people at amazon always feel this way!
Not in Azure
We do. This is a classic example of a young in career person working to the point of burnout because they don’t know how to set boundaries and take downtime.
Azure?

Sometimes great movie quotes help us understand life better
Here is one more from movie Rush, What's the point of having a million cups and medals if you don't have any fun? How is that winning?
I’m sorry to hear that you’re burnt out. I would look into a medical leave and what the laws are in your state. You can go to a doctor and express what’s going on. And then apply/file through your employer.
You definitely can take time off. There will always be more work to do, and it will get done with or without you. They will adjust and make it happen the same way they would if you dropped dead tomorrow. Do not impact your health over a job. What’s the point of working if you are burned out to the point where you aren’t getting things done anyway? Just to be seen online? Take some OOF days, Sick days, whatever.
To be honest, sounds like OP is so burned out that a little vacation time isn't going to magically make it better. While taking a week or two is a good start, have this conversation with your lead. As a lead I can miss these things, and if you're burned out it's doing no one any good (also less callous I tend to actually care). So say something, we aren't all aware and now it's harder that we're remote from each other.
@false. That’s real. The hard part is, some leads don’t do a good enough job of expressing that they are open and receptive to these things. I’ve had to have this exact conversation with my manager, and speaking up about these things is usually alot easier said than done unfortunately. Especially when you already feel like you are being constantly judged or evaluated. I really hope the OP reaches out and gets help though. It’s an unfortunate situation that a lot of us are dealing with right now
Sorry to hear that! What I’ve learned is more money doesn’t bring you happiness. I’d take a pay cut to not be in the current shit show I’m in!
