Hi all, My Fiancé is interviewing at Google next week. shes anticipating being asked what she is passionate about, she currently has a Youtube channel where she posts mostly lifestyle vlogs and videos about our life here in the bay area. Im nervous that it wont be a good thing that she has a channel... Can anyone at Google please weigh in here if you have a perspective on this? Thank you so much in advance. TC150, YOE 4
It will have absolutely no impact.
Then don’t talk about it. I don’t mention my social media at any time during the interview
This is such a stupid question really. No company is going to ask about your social media hobbies during an interview.
It’s a question about your passions outside of work, not your “social media hobbies” gtfo jerk
Never know. Bay Area could. Or they won’t ask, but rather dig up themselves.
I don’t see why this would be a negative thing to mention if it is her passion and it is not racist or illegal. In fact, I would see it as a highlight since she is a user of YouTube, which is part of Google. She brings in unique insights.
link?
I had a friend who had a YouTube channel and wore it like a badge if honor....put that even in his resume. It became a good starting point in interviews. Now he is a Product Manager at Google ....be proud. Google I heard loves people with interests other than work
It’s a job interview, not America Got Talent 🤦🏽♂️
Why is that a concern? Have you been posting/saying stuff on your channel that can hurt your prospect? If so, either delete channel or put those videos on “only me” visibility scope in YouTube.
No absolutely not!! Nothing but positive content. Thank you for the input
That’s good. Just don’t mention about it at all during interview. Hopefully it’s not highlighted on resume anywhere
