Considering that I have to go through a 16hr flight, deal with jet lag and whatnot, would you recommend still picking the onsite option? The alternative (my preference) is a 12am late night video interview. What makes companies prefer that the candidate goes through the onsite anyway? Tc 0 LFJ
Are they paying for the flight? Will you move & work at that location? If not, they might be flexible but be sure to ask. There's nothing wrong with asking
I would ask if they can fly you out a couple of days early and just rest. That way you would be fresh.
Yea. Def onsite. Face to face is different from video. And if they aren't accomodating request for rest before interview after 16 hrs flight they might not be worth working for.
Which place are you flying to and what company? I'm wondering which companies pay for an international flight!!
Aren't we all?
Onsite
Whichever way you perform better. People here assume that you’re likable in person, which might not be the case. I definitely do much better on video.
This ☝️. Also depends on how badly you wanted the job.
Ask for onsite with an extra day for rest before the interview.
