How feasible is an embedded/firmware engineer to transition to the cloud? (20 YOE)
Not feasible if you expect 20 YOE TC. Plenty more experienced for half of the price. Feasible if you take paycut but hard

Try Amazon L6, they need people who can make difficult choices on the spot which requires a lot of experience. Careful what you wish for though. You're in for a wild ride. Cloud is mostly on-calls and looking at graphs and change config files (hundreds of different configs) and migrate/onboard to new tech etc... with long learning curve, you'll be uncomfortable for a long time. You'll see why TC is much higher there.
