Just started at Amazon as an SDE 1 (new grad). NHO was toxic with the first speaker setting up a really weird atmosphere, and like wtf was that bingo game is this a college visit? First actual day manager showed me my desk and had me sit on a couple of meetings. Day 2 just sat around watching whatever videos I had to do in Embark. SDE bootcamp was full so had to push that to later. My whole team is not native english speakers, so I have to ask them to repeat things or just nod my head like I understand Should I be worried? What the heck should I do tomorrow day 4 (ermm I mean day 1)? there is only so many videos on Broadcast that I can watch. TC: 144.5k 108k/28 bonus / 5 relo / 3.5 stock
I appreciate the detailed TC breakdown
haha thanks people on here always love their TC!
That was sarcasm, I think.
Eat sleep watch video... repeat. Day 1 always at amazon
Are you in Amazon Video team?
Masters degree?
Depends your department what you'll be doing, but your manager should have a beginning project ready for you that you'll do before you start learning the rest of the team's services. That generally starts towards the end of week 1/beginning of week 2.
Aight well I hope so. I'll update tomorrow if I actually get to do something. At least I get to go out to lunch with coworkers
Be biased for action, setup a 1:1 with your manager and ask for a launch plan. Also, there is no need to have such ego and be mean and judgemental. Develop some EQ, it's much necessary.
I'm happy to see this type of comment.
Looks like you got the wrong attitude and that means only one thing, you’re destined to fail. So you expect to only work with NATIVE SPEAKERS?? Lol
Like I didn't expect to be a minority I thought I was a member of the privileged LOL
You’re just entitled
Write a PR doc on how you will change the world. Schedule meeting to share with the team.
I thought unnecessary design docs were only a Google thing? Just watched clements video so don't bash me if he is wrong
LinkedIn too. I think it's a good practice
Enjoy it while it lasts. I joined a new team that has me leading development on new features before I even understand what the product is LOL
Sounds like he hired the wrong John smith. Too many of you look the same
🙄 ffs
Frustration free setup? 😂
