Interested to know what the blind community thinks about this latest acquisition. FK definitely looking to diversify and go big against other internet commerce orgs. Cleartrip is travel booking platform. Is this a good decision? P.S: For those who don't know, Flipkart is an Indian e-com, Walmart subsidiary.
Flipkart got it cheap, guess they would spend as much to develop the thing in house.. Otherwise, the value of travel aggregator is primarily the user base - I am guessing that there will be a considerable overlap in user bases of Flipkart and Cleartrip - so on that count there won't be a major benefit.
Amazon has snatched market share from Flipkart primarily due to superior customer service. Jiomart will be formidable. Unless Flipkart fixes the customer service issues, no amount of diversification can help..
True that Amazon has snatched some part of the profit from FK. But could you please elaborate more on JioMart? Amazon and Flipkart can do much more than Ambani.
Jiomart is not there yet. If the past achievements of Mukesh Ambani are anything to go by, I am fairly certain that it will be a strong 3 in a couple of years.
Flipkart is the largest e-commerce in India? Did you just forget Amazon!
It is still the largest. Though amazon is catching up really fast!
Cleartrip is not just a travel aggregator and Flipkart didn’t buy it just for user base. Cleartrip powers the backend for majority (probably 99%) of agent portals offering travel booking. Be it reward portal of any Indian bank or even Amazon flights. So Flipkart now controls the revenue for their partnership with all these companies.
Amazing. Thanks for the info
Feels like bad decision, so many travel booking companies that are either failing or keep making losses
