Just moved to the Bay Area about a month ago and updated my LinkedIn profile accordingly. Ever since then I'm getting a flood of inmail from all these recruiters inquiring about jobs for startups/firms/etc Does this happen to everyone else? Do you ignore most of them or respond back? I'd like to expand my network in the area so not sure how to act on it.
Yes obviously. There are perks to be here. Especially if you are Sw Engg.

You da man!
Check your job notifications settings. There are three levels, and unless itâs totally off, youâll get a lot of messages.
It's over 9000!
Yep, mute the noise.
This happened to me too when I moved to SF. I tell recruiters that I just started a new job and am not in the market right now, but they can friend me on LinkedIn. I figure I may need them in the future.
Welcome to the Bay Area my dude
It is joyful noise, and just do not turn it off.
This is how LinkedIn works. When you update, it triggers a mechanism for recruiters to prioritize you. Try update someone trivial after 3 months. The result will be the same.

Same here, it was must quieter when I was in Seattle. I usually ignore them, or send a polite canned answer.
