I showed the Meta offer to Google and they refused to match. BS lowballing and front-loading. Google is hybrid but Meta is permanently remote. Google would have about 10 hr / 150 miles of commuting per week, based on where I want to live in relation to the office. Would need to pay $5-6 for gas and would have to keep our second car instead of selling it.
Goals are TC, setting up a permanently remote career, learning how to be a “real” SWE, and getting to Senior (either internal or external) in 2-3 years. WLB is nice, but IMO more hours while WFH can have the same WLB as fewer hours in office, and at this stage in my life I’m willing to work hard.

Do the top 100 tagged FB questions. Read the solutions, even if you find the problem really easy. The solutions may have a different way of doing it. Go back and implement that way. Learn **all** the ways to solve a problem, not just one.
If you’re doing a problem and get blocked then peek at the solution just enough to get unblocked. Go back and implement a solution, and come back to redo the problem tomorrow.
Get really good at those 100 tagged problems. The week before your interview go over them all again. Most will be pretty easy because you’ll remember. Some won’t, study those.
E6 to staff
E7 to principal
Idk above that… not planning to make it that far lol
Google is a geriatric Boomer company at this point. It is a retirement home for people that have checked out from life. It will always be there just like MSFT and IBM.
Meta arse is on fire, which means more opportunity to do new things. Google is a monopoly at this point, and it will be like working for the Government. It just wastes millions in projects that eventually kills them kills, just like our DoD/Goverment.
