Food delivery industry

With Uber recently buying Postmates, what do you think about the growth prospects of the food delivery industry? During Covid, many of them have received bad PR for jacking up menu prices and charging restaurants high fees.

I’ve been using doordash mainly because I’m used to their UI. Think their fees are cheaper as well

  • It's an important industry for someone like me that literally orders food every day lol. But less competition isn't great for consumers. I wonder what Uber's acquisition means for prices... my go-to drink - starbucks green tea latte grande - cost me $4.45 in store, $5.15 via uber eats, and $5.94 on Postmates. Will Uber now raise prices? Hmm...

  • I stopped ordering food since before covid. Cooking is fun and doesn't take much time if planned right.

  • I think the delivery charges and tip on top make the costs insane to end user and also companies using them. I prefer not to use them when I can.

They still haven’t figured out how to make it work where they can make money in the industry. I think Uber will eventually try to get delivery automated with their driverless tech / drones to make it profitable
