I want to just share with you a little anecdote from a past company about the importance of LC in the workplace.

It was a cold winter day, the sky was grey, and the trees bent over to the onslaught of the wind. The mood in the office was tense as pip season was about to begin. Slowly our manager paced behind our desks as many engineers did their best impersonation of work.

Suddenly, I heard the footsteps stop behind my desk and sheer terror shot through my veins as I heard my manager utter the dreaded phrase "wanna play a game?"

Suddenly my internet was disconnected, my IDEs were uninstalled and Microsoft notes++ was all that remained on my screen. As a gun was placed at the back of my head. "Invert a binary tree. You have 30 minutes" was all he said.

Furiously I began modeling it out on the paper, it's a graph problem so something DFS or BFS. I took my 50/50 and guessed DFS. DFS has recursion I thought so I started hammering out recursion and random statements. Eventually something I wrote made sense to me. 10 minutes he said coldly. 10 minutes? I haven't even tried to compile my code yet! I ran the compile command and...missing ";". Every time I tried to compile, missing ";" "can not identify ____" finally it compiled "you are out of time" was all I heard. My heart sank as I accepted my fate. My manager clicked the button to run it against the test cases and I waited.

The gun was removed from my head and my manager said "looks like you made it through another season employee 301967. I breathed a sigh of relief and waited for my manager to go away so that I could finish the YouTube that I was watching only moments prior.
