For those at Google that commute from SF, why not moving to Mountain View?

Joining soon. Asked a question a few days ago about SF-MV commute and people unanimously hated the commute. So I’m curious why not moving to Mountain View area? Current TC: 290k

Great question...I was going to move to Mountain View when I got the offer but then I decided to give sf and the commute a try. Haven’t regretted it :) what’s your age range and relationship status?

Cool glad it worked out for you. Where in SF do you commute from and how do you do it (eg shuttle drive train)? How’s your experience? 30 and unmarried

SF is such a unique place to live in. PM me if you want more deets :) id highly recommend trying sf and commute for 1 year. I am in the center of the city, only 4 min walk from the shuttle. Commute isn’t fun but you can be completely productive during it

Have you taken a peak at mountain view? It's downtown is literally 2 blocks.

Lmao fml then as I may need to make the move if commute turns out to be too exhausting

Your question gets easier for you to answer if you go hang out at Mountain View. Low diversity, suburbia central. Obviously, it’s ok to choose to live there, but I’m only 36, so too young to close myself off to all the experiences of a city!

MV is super lame, overpriced, and its all dudes.

There is a Google office in SF so you can try to join a team there

Or mega backdoor through Fitbit before the acquisition goes through

I’m highly considering it. Looks like they have limited headcount. Any tips on the best way to find a team there? (beside asking my recruiter)
