Detroit Free Press: Ford CEO says automaker needs 'totally different talent' to meet goals. Here's why. https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/ford/2022/03/22/ford-ceo-farley-talent-goals/9453474002/ #auto #hr #ceosuck
This is just another Mech/Aerospace engineer trained leader thinking *shrugs*
What's the expected TC, mr ceo?
You get what you paid for.
They don’t pay good either 2 YOE making $57K BEFORE taxes.
No they don't pay so little. What's ur title and skin color?
I mean he's not wrong. Software engineering at most vehicle companies are extremely poor with bad practices. One obvious way to fix this is to either pay more to lure competent devs or just try to select for better applicants.
And tbh u dont need 2000 devs So i always said spend high dollars per talent
In fact often hiring more bad developers just makes the code worse.
I was an intern here and sat at a meeting with this guy. He yelled at an intern for taking too long to ask a question, and then berated the question lmao. But he has a point. Talent at some areas of Ford is really really lacking. PMs have no idea what theyre doing. New grads leave after 3 years for higher TC. TC: 150k
PMs exist in automotive..? Edit: sorry the Automotive PROGRAM not product 🤦♂️
Part of the issue is their salaries for new hires are competitive for mechanical engineer positions. They however are not competitive for swe at all. But even for mechanical. You can max out non LL pay level within 5 years and then what? Inflation raises forever? Lmao
The real crime here, is making the GT a paddle shifter
the gt500 is awesome but they need a c8 fighter.
Yes, they do SUCk!!
Getting out was the best thing I've done. Increased my tc by 80%
Read my company lmao
He watched the ford v Ferrari movie
😁😂

Why are you not getting the job you want?
Idiots like this guy completely fail to understand that a software engineer’s skill set is applicable to virtually any project. The real culprit for Ford’s ineptitude is the dumb decisions management has been taking over the years.
Virtually doing a lot of heavy lifting there. I’m not sure about taking a front end engineer and having them write low level real-time code with the same level of proficiency and efficiency but generally yes there’s definitely more flexibility with swe.
