Ford life (contractor vs fte)

I expect to get an offer from Ford but indications are it will be contract to hire. I had that "to hire" line fed to me early in career and I've seen the discrepancy in benefits (no access to lease cars, second class citizen treatment) at another OEM very early in my career. What's contractor life like at Ford?

Lease deals are not anything to write home about. You can haggle a similar deal for yourself. You'll miss out on all hands meetings, holiday parties and such but really the 2nd class citizen aspect depends on the dept and team. At the end of the day it boils down to whether you value the health care benefits. If you have a spouse that can put you on theirs, then being a contractor isn't that bad since you also get OT pay.

Some managers do not allow over time to avoid paying OT.

It is like 2nd class citizen. You are not able to get the bonus compensation. You are not able to purchase vehicle with employee discount. (But supplier discount) If you are unlucky, you might get harsh passive-aggressive treatment. Despite of those disadvantages, it is not bad. ‘Verbally’, it is like working as full-time employee. Even contractors say they work for Ford. Are you an international employee? (I mean no Green Card or non-citizen.) Are you an agency hire or just a direct contractor?
