Ford Offer- Team- Manufacturing Engineering Lvl- 7 Base- 96k Relocation benefits for me and spouse. No signing bonus & No stocks Experience- 3 yrs in automotive plus Masters What should I counter with?
Going from Texas to Michigan. Current TC 88k
So HQ, I am guessing? Offer is pretty good for MI, although I think you could counter and add few K more. Think also additional perks we tend to have in auto industry - vacation days during shutdown, free car or a lease dirt cheap, and finally, bonus. Will you get any of that, and do you have already some of it with GM?
Yes! The offer is good. My friend who joined at L6 last year joined at 90k and got 10k signing bonus. I expected some bonus in the offer and not to see that was little surprising.
You should definitely ask for joining bonus. Not sure how levels work for manufacturing engineering roles but check with HR and see if they can upgrade you to GSR8 (the next level after GSR8 is LL6 which is for supervisors, in future if you want to transition to supervisor role you should be a GSR8 employee to apply). There should be an annual bonus target in your offer, you can negotiate on that. Usually they offer 10 paid leaves and 10 sick/personal leaves, but I’ve heard people negotiating and paid leaves.
Since you're working at Ford, what do you think should be the signing bonus amount that I can ask? Any idea? I'll try and negotiate on the PTOs, I don't think they'll upgrade me to GSR8.
I think 10k should be doable.
Offer is very good. You can try for sign on if possible, otherwise top offer.
Alright thanks. I'm expecting another offer from Faurecia. Let's see what they offer.
Joined Ford after grad school. Base 100k, relocation plus 10k, 15 vacation days plus standard sick/personal days. You have some room to negotiate. Competing offer will help
What school?whats your GSR?
UTAustin. GSR7.
Michigan is boring...
Ermm.. not so encouraging..
Are you an international student? I had heard ford does not take internationals for direct hire
Yes I am. They would transfer my H1B
Awesome. I am hoping to make a move into the auto industry.
That’s a good offer. I’m at that pay now (and hopefully that grade next month) after 6.5 YOE, also with MS. Unlikely to be negotiating room.

What is your current TC at GM? And where would you relocate?
