Sorry to hear that. They have a great product.
It's match sticks and duct tape all the way down.
Honestly the code quality is a mix from very good to a few cases of ‘oh my god!’ Original poster appears to not have had a lot of experience or a bit of an axe to grind.
Appreciate the heads up, moving to Austin soon and work in the GIS/IT field and that company kept popping up
Went in to interview for a security role, was asked to do a project for free to prove my worth, I walked out. Fuck that I don't work for free
ForeFlight also has your typical batch of tech industry misfits. Male employees who are openly sexists towards woman working in the aviation industry, a part-timer who moonlights in a band and often talks about elicit drug use at work, and brown nosing team leads.
Thank you all for the heads up ^ I received an offer to join yesterday and found this. I’m good
It was a closely held startup. So pretty much exactly what you would expect. Some good (very laid back) some bad (no process and immature culture). Definitely worked at larger places that are much worse by most measures.
The work environment is highly toxic. If you value yourself, don't join the team. Publicly the leadership team loves to say that they higher people who are smarter than them...but they constant belittle them behind closed doors. Micromanagement is rampant as well as double standards. Save yourself the trouble and move on.
Self-absorbed leadership that’s now been folded into the Boeing machine via acquisition. If your title doesn’t have VP or Director at the front, it’s a career dead end. More veterans jumping ship all the time. The laid back fun culture it used to have is pretty much snuffed out. Expect to stare at a desk in silence for most of the day.
Not sure which office you are in but never would have said “fun culture”. I’m very interested to find out if management realizes they have a retention problem and what actions they take.
Has this gotten better since Boeing?
No.
I recently applied to an eng pos. Would you recommend?

Here's an example why, the CEO's wife is head of HR.
Avoiding anyone who hires family first for critical leadership roles is a good idea.
This is not apparent when you are brought on board.
