This is not a troll question, so please provide constructive arguments. One of the complains Americans have is foreign trained(in some cases inferiorly trained) tech workers are replacing them. These workers work for cheap. And one of the reasons cited as to why american workers cannot work for so cheap is that they have huge student loans that need paying up. These are all valid arguments against h,1n holders. But what I can't understand is... Why can't american workers just go to India and do the same course as these foreign workers. 1. They can pay and go to the best schools(so that they don't get in the pool of the not so good workers), there are foreign quotas 2. It will cost less. Perhaps lesser than a coding bootcamp. 3. The degree seems to be valid, unlike law and medicineto get jobs in FAANG. It is not unheard of that foreigners come to India for studying the universities are full of folks from Africa and middle East. So why not America?
Not all universities in India are the great. Getting into the good ones is a whole ordeal - doing LC is easier. Or you'll need to do E4/E5 level prep for physics, chemistry, math. No, you can't pay your way into these universities. It is easier for Americans to study in a state school or a private university in the US than to get into a top university in India.
Aren't you guys reading my post, or is it not clear? I wrote clearlyjust pay to go to the best schools. There is foreigner quotas. LC doesn't work till you know concepts of Cs. And to learn that you do a 12-18k$ bootcamp course.
For the few hundred (maybe thousand?) foreigners that can pass the JEE and get a seat, it might be a good deal.
1. Getting into a good University in India is insanely tough. 2. Severe competition. 3. People with a crap degree won't get a job easily. 4. Pay sucks (esp if you're outside of tech). 5. Lowered QoL, people who grew up in Western society will find it near impossible to adapt.
#1 and 2 are wrong. There are quotas for foreigners.
Proof? I'm going to need an official statement on a reputed University website. The IITs don't sell their seats for money.
Americans need to understand how good Asian and Indian Universities are, most people that come from those are very very well qualified, why? Since they are literally born parents become competitive, access to good schools can be free and you are competing with millions...my experience with colleagues educated in top Asian/Indian universities or eastern European is way better than some Ivy league, i dunno about getting paid to get access to school but wasn't there a scandal in us for the same
Ha ha ha ha ha....you are so naive
The problem is not with women and how much they drink, but with men. India is a country of rapists. Everybody in the world knows that.
Americans who are good enough to get into a top Indian university are also good enough to get academic scholarships to top American Universities.
Also, I'm not convinced that American workers get paid more *because* of student loan debt. I've paid off my loans but still refuse to work for cheap
It is demand and supply. Assuming that market gets cheaper everyone has to pull their prices down. It is capitalism
I'm not convinced that the market gets cheaper with fewer loans. People with loans can't demand a higher salary just because they have loans. That's not capitalism.
maybe because for many people, college is an experience? if i just wanted bang for buck i wouldve watched mit/berkeley webcasts and attended a bootcamp.
Oh yes it can be, but such experiences go out the window when it is a question of providing food at the dinner table
well i never had issues with putting food on the table, so cant relate. and again, id have better life quality flipping burgers at in and out and leetcoding on the side, no idea why the fuck someone would go out of their way for an education in india unless they had perfect access to opportunities and lifestyle of the 0.0001% which wouldnt be possible without money in the first place
Guys, not just in India. Most countries in Europe have free education, have classes are in English, and experiencing a new culture is fun and eye-opening. Not knowing this is a thing, knowing this but still complaining is just dumb
The problem is not foreign workers, it's the companies abusing the hb1 system. Very different problems. As a company, it is not legal to use hb1 to replace workers for cost savings, yet this happens all the time. You see contractors, some company like tata or deloite, it's a money saver.
Yes, and this abuse is happening because that said contractor, somehow, is able to deliver(assumably) same output for cheaper cost. Which means one of the two things: 1. The true cost of that service is indeed low and Americans over charge. 2. They are able to deliver for cheap because their internal costs of delivering is cheaper. The second can happen because of cheaper education etc.
You have flawed logic. Profit is the motive, and quality is on a sliding scale that can be utilized. "Which means one of the two things: 1. The true cost of that service is indeed low and Americans over charge. 2. They are able to deliver for cheap because their internal costs of delivering is cheaper. The second can happen because of cheaper education etc." These 2 assumptions only support your cause. Classic biased fallacy. I hope you are not making business decisions.

No point in downgrading your life style only to end up in a crappy college in india. Let's be honest, only few colleges in india are good. Rest of them are about mugging up things and putting them on exam paper. Teachers are not passionate at all. Most of the colleges have no concept of research. In the end it comes down to standard of living. Visiting India for vacation is fine but living here is hard for people from USA who have been blessed with an amazing life so far
Hence I said, pay and go to the top college. The point was clear. Also, your logic is that one would rather struggle a life time with debt or not even able to get an education and stay poor, than live slightly uncomfortably in a bit so bad country and live a comfortable life later on. That logic is stupid
Do you think it's easy to end up in to colleges? There is already intense competition and reservation on top of that. I myself failed to get in to iits inspite of good score, while I did very well abroad
