Free therapy offered by company

We have up to 50 free sessions / year covered 100% for therapy as a benefit. Do you think it’s a good idea to take advantage? Can the manager/ company find out if someone is using the benefit and get details of the therapy sessions?

We have the benefit and on my first session with the therapist she disclosed that they will share the anonymous data with your employer, and that the video session is recorded (but I asked to opt out). I personally pretty uncomfortable and stopped after first session.

WTF? Who would opt in to something like that?

That would be so incredibly illegal. Of course not.

Find a different therapist that’s covered by your health insurance, rather than as part of these benefit programs.

Never use a school or workplace's mental health resources. It's a trap. If they suspect you may be depressed, you will be put on permanent medical leave to reduce liability and force you out. It's more than legal to put sick employees on medical leave, and no one is going to convict a doctor for being "concerned for your safety". Google will give you tons of examples of this

EAP benefits often include therapy and do not share anything back with your employer. Medical plans that include mental health are also confidential. I haven’t heard of any other employer plan offering therapy services.

It's likely HR would know that you're using the benefit, but no one from your company will have any privileged insight. Exception being their own therapists as opposed to independent ones. Find out who administers the benefit - a trusted third party would be preferred over the company self managing

Yep I’m talking about Lyra. Not a fan of the service.
